Under UN Women-Supported Initiatives, WEFSO Demonstrates Strong Institutional Impact
The Small Grant project, implemented by the Women Empowerment in Self-Sufficiency Organization (WEFSO) with the support of UN Women, marks an important step in strengthening institutional capacity and advancing gender-responsive humanitarian action.
Institutional Achievements
WEFSO has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and accountable programming. In recognition of its performance and active engagement, WEFSO was selected as Co-Chair of the Gender in Humanitarian Action Working Group (GiHA WG) in the Western Region—highlighting its growing leadership and credibility within the humanitarian sector.
Impact
Through the Capacity Building Small Grant initiative, WEFSO strengthened its internal systems and enhanced its technical and operational capacity. This has improved the organization’s ability to design and implement effective, gender-responsive interventions that address the needs of vulnerable communities, particularly women and girls.
The project also contributed to improving program quality, accountability, and coordination, positioning WEFSO as a more effective and reliable partner in humanitarian response and decision-making processes.
Acknowledgment
WEFSO sincerely appreciates the continued support and partnership of UN Women. Special thanks to Claire Van Loveren and her colleagues for their valuable guidance and collaboration.
