At WEFSO, addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is at the core of our commitment to creating a safe and equitable society for women and girls in Afghanistan. Our GBV programmes focus on both prevention and response, ensuring that survivors receive compassionate, confidential, and rights-based support while communities are empowered to challenge harmful norms. We provide survivor-centred case management, safe referral pathways, psychosocial first aid, and emergency protection services for women and girls at risk. Our trained social workers deliver awareness sessions on women’s rights, early and forced marriage, domestic violence, and harmful traditional practices, encouraging families and communities to adopt non-violent and respectful behaviours. WEFSO also works closely with community leaders, men, and youth to address the root causes of GBV and promote positive masculinity. Through advocacy campaigns and community dialogues, we encourage attitudes that support equality, safety, and accountability. Our approach integrates service provision, prevention, and capacity building to ensure that survivors are not only supported but also empowered to rebuild their lives. By strengthening local protection systems and fostering collaborative partnerships with civil society, humanitarian organisations, and local actors, WEFSO contributes to long-term social change. We are committed to ensuring that every woman and girl—especially those in vulnerable and crisis-affected communities—can live a life free from violence, discrimination, and fear. Our GBV work is grounded in dignity, confidentiality, and the belief that all women and girls deserve safety and justice.
